Overview
Participants are the sellers in your campaign — the people who go out, sell your product, and advertise it to the community to raise money.
How you define a participant is completely flexible. For a baseball team, the participants might be the individual players. If you're running a fundraiser for an entire league, each team could be a participant instead. Schools often use students, and community campaigns often use volunteers.
This guide covers what participants are, how to add them, how to manage them, and how their sales get tracked.
What a Participant Gets
Every participant in a Fundlet campaign comes with a few things built in:
- A welcome block on the fundraiser page — when no participant is selected yet, supporters see a prompt where they can choose a participant and hit View
- A unique link the participant can share on their own, by QR code, email, or anywhere else
- A spot on the leaderboard, so everyone can see who's contributing
Those three pieces are the core of how participants work.
Ways to Add Participants
There are four ways to get participants into a campaign:
- Add them directly from the Participants page
- Have a campaign organizer add them from their organization dashboard
- Let participants self-register using a shared link
- Upload a CSV of participants all at once
Pick whichever fits your campaign. Smaller teams are usually fastest to add by hand, while large school or league fundraisers tend to work better with self-registration or a CSV upload.
Add Participants from the Dashboard
To manage participants, go into a campaign. You'll see a list of participants right on the campaign overview. From there you can either click the list to jump straight into your participants, or scroll down and choose Manage Participants.
On the participants page, click to add a participant and fill in:
- A photo to upload
- The participant's name
- A code for the participant
- Their email address
- Any additional notes you want to keep about them
Let Participants Self-Register
If you'd rather have participants add themselves, go to the campaign and choose View Participant Onboarding. That gives you a link you can copy and paste out to your participants — by email, text, or however you normally reach them.
Each participant fills out the form themselves, which saves you from entering everyone by hand. This works especially well for school fundraisers and large team drives where you don't have everyone's details up front.
Edit, Update, or Remove Participants
Everything you set when adding a participant can be changed later from the same participants page — swap a photo, correct a name or email, update the code, or edit their notes. If someone drops out of the campaign, you can remove them from the list.
Track Participant Sales
Because every participant has their own unique link, Fundlet can attribute sales back to the person who made them. Those totals roll up onto the campaign leaderboard so you can see at a glance who's contributing and how the campaign is tracking overall.
Whether you're running a school fundraiser, a sports team drive, or a community campaign, keeping your participant list current is what keeps everyone on track and makes your results easy to measure.
