How to Require and Search Participants

Enable participant selection on your fundraiser so shoppers must choose a participant at checkout, with a search field to find them quickly.


Overview

The Fundlet message block has two advanced features: a searchable participant dropdown and a required participant selection. This is useful when you have a lot of participants and want to make sure every order is attributed to someone.


Step 1: Enable Searchable Participants

  1. In the Shopify theme customizer, open your campaign storefront and click the Message block.
  2. Change the participant selector to Searchable Dropdown.
  3. Hit Save.

Shoppers can now type a name to filter the participant list — useful when you have many participants to scroll through.


Step 2: Require a Participant Selection

  1. In the theme customizer, click the Message block.
  2. Under the message settings, click Require Selection.
  3. Hit Save.

When require selection is on, the banner and collection block are hidden until a participant is chosen. Once a shopper selects a participant and clicks View, they're taken to that participant's page where the products and banner appear.

This is an easy way to make sure every purchase is tied to a specific participant.
